"Ieri, Oggi e Domani; Homage to Fibonacci"

This piece is inspired by the Fibonacci Spiral. Why? It makes no difference if we are talking about Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow of an individual, a country or the entire Planet. The “whole” builds within itself by the addition of events. The first two numbers in the Fibonacci sequence are 0 and 1, and each subsequent number is the sum of the previous two. “Yesterday” built up with the addition of each minute, hour, event, centuries and so on until it arrives at “Today” and subsequently will then move on to “Tomorrow”.
In my piece, “Yesterday” (Ieri) starts with small, gray tesserae and moves towards the” Present” while changing the spectrum of colors, like light thru a prism. The pieces are pretty symmetrical, however, there are two areas symbolizing the best and worst of “yesterday”: an organic shape made of gold smalti represents those positive moments that occurred in the past. In contrast, the rectilinear geometric shape made with black smalti represents the exact opposite.
The “Today” (Oggi) in my piece is active and uncertain. The pieces are ever changing, no longer symmetrical, and the colors reverse themselves as it gets darker towards “Tomorrow”. The center is reflective, so it reminds the viewer, that at that moment, he or she is witnessing “Today”.
I’m representing “Tomorrow” (Domani) with hollow spaces as one cannot dare to guess how small or big, bright or dark “those” pieces will be.
